Sandown Carnival

Children's Procession 2009 - 28th July

Once again this year A GREAT BIG THANK YOU!! to all who came out and supported our Children's Day on 28th July! With perhaps one of the largest turnouts yet, we were stunned by the quality and variety of the costumes on show. Everyone put a lot of effort into preparing those, and we really hope you enjoyed the day!

It ripped the heart out of sandown on christmas eve, ....regardless of what licences should have been obtained, I am appalled that the council departments are so badly run by their managers, surely it should be their job to contact committees holding events to ensure that they have everything in place,....... I refuse to even acknowledge their statement that they knew nothing in advance of the event, I cant believe that they will retain any credibility after making that comment............it has been a really hard year for traders in sandown, particularly in the aftermath of the closure of woolworths that brought many people into the town, I hope that there is some way they can be compensated for the loss of takings on christmas eve but I daresay that this will not be the case.

There is something very wrong with the system in place at the Isle of Wight Council that allows one objection to close down a whole day's events. I object to the way the council handled this whole sorry mess. Some 'jobs worth' in that office needs to grown a brain and think about the impact following a general protocol has on an event like this. Are they really serving the community? I don't think so. Forget the idiot who made the complaint - its somebody on the council who needs to stand accountable - hopefully with their job.

Thanks to all that came out today and supported the christmas eve funday & raffle even tho it had to be cancelled because of the iow council and some party pooper!! If you want it go ahead in future then show your support now! If you got a parking ticket then appeal to teh ticket, you never know your luck there may just be a little christmas spirit at the iow council!?
Hope all have a great christmas after today!!!!!!!

Firstly its a shame the funday was cancelled at the last minute but what really kicked the christmas spirit out of me was the parking ticket I got in Station Avenue car park this morning! Sandown Chronicle said it was free parking today, what a crock

Well done Isle of Wight Council for spoiling all the Girls and Boys christmas Fun Day. Surely it cant be up to one individual that can have so much impact on one day when so many others have planned a great day out with there kids.
