Our stunning Illuminated Carnival is back this year, bigger and better than ever taking place on Wednesday 25th August.

A very special evening with hundreds of illuminated costumes and floats lit with thousands of colourful lights. We'll be making announcements about supporting entertainments nearer to the date, so do check back on this page or subscribe to our news feeds (left).

The basic timings for the procession are:

• 19:00 - Carnival starts to assemble - Culver Parade
• 20:00 - Judging
• 21:00 - Carnival moves off around the town

The carnival procession generally takes around 60-90 minutes depending on the number of entrants and of course the weather conditions. The route takes in the High St, Beachfield Rd, Royal Crescent, Melville St, Fitzroy St, Station Ave, Albert St and the bottom of Victoria St finishing at Culver Parade.

The best vantage points are the High St - although this area tends to get very busy - and Fitzroy St where the procession should begin to arrive at around 21:30.
