Eco Friendly Parade

Sandown Carnival hopes to become the island's first eco-friendly parade. After taking part in Brighton Carnival last year, carnival organisers from Sandown were so inspired by the use of eco-friendly sound systems they decided to use similar equipment themselves.

Now, thanks to a Big Lottery Grant, the carnival association has taken delivery of three sound systems designed by Brighton carnival's music experts in order to make the carnival more eco-friendly. We want to encourage spectators to walk to the parade or take public transport to lessen the effect the event has on the environment. Over the next few years we will be thinking of other ideas to help cut the carnival's eco-footprint.

The new sound systems are powered by a battery rather than a generator and will be pushed around the parade route in shopping trolleys rather than being transported by car. Come see and hear the new sound systems at this year's events!
