Getting Involved with Carnival
Absolutely anybody can come along and join in with Carnival events! Check out the procession dates from the menu on the left. If you or your family, work colleagues or neighbours want to have some fun, then just come up with a theme and turn up on the night with a float or a fancy dress costume! If costs are an issue consider our Carnival Development Fund small grants scheme.
Businesses can use the procession as an excellent promotional platform, handing out flyers and displaying their business to all of those watching. If you'd like to sponsor an event we'd love to hear from you. Sponsorship might be simply providing competition prizes, or you might have bigger ideas.
Clubs take part to help children expand their creativeness and recruit new members. Our Carnival Development Fund also applies to groups, and our Masquerade Mondays which take place throughout the school summer holidays are a great way to learn more about Carnival techniques.
Schools can integrate carnival-related lessons and after-school clubs into the curriculum promoting art, design technology and citizenship. We also look to the middle & high schools for our annual Carnival Queens.
We're always on the lookout for Volunteers to help in our fundraising shop on Sandown High St - even if it's just a couple of hours a week we'd love to hear from you. Use the 'Contact Us' link above.
Finally we'd love to hear from anyone who thinks their organisational skills or contacts might be put to good use as a member of our Carnival Committee. We meet once each month and there's always room for one more person at the table!
However you wish to contribute, just join in! You won't regret it!
