Sandown Carnival events cost around £30,000 each year. Only a small percentage of this is realised through donations and grants - the majority is generated by our Fundraising Outlet situated on the High Street in Sandown.
Staffed entirely by volunteers (thanks guys!) and stocked with donated clothing, household goods and bric-a-brac, we moved into this new location in March 2010 from a smaller store in Melville St.
Carrying a range of quality clothes, books, toys and household items, why not come along and have a browse? Every sale we make puts a smile on a face come Carnival Day! The shop is slowly becoming a community focal point, renowned for its regular and topical window displays. As we have a lot of holidaymakers visiting, we're also hoping to fill some of the void left by the impending closure of the Tourist Information Centre by offering literature and advice.
We're always in need of dependable volunteers to help out - if you can spare a few hours each week then why not give us a try? Contact Sandy on 404726 for more details.
The success of the shop and therefore the Carnival events themselves depend largely on the frequency and quality of donated articles.
If you're having a clear-out, we'd very much appreciate any serviceable clothing, books, DVDs/CDs or household items (not electrical). Feel free to drop off at the shop during opening hours or if you'd like us to collect, please call Sandy on 404726 and we'll make it happen!
The Carnival Shop is located on Sandown High Street adjacent to the Nat West Bank. There is usually plenty of street parking in Albert Road or you can use the Station Avenue or St Johns Rd car parks which are just a short walk. The main bus stops are just along the road.
