Volunteering

Sandown Carnival costs around £40,000 per year to stage our events and attend those in other towns

Virtually all of this is raised by our team of dedicated volunteers, mostly via our fundraising outlet.

We're always looking for volunteers - can you help?

  • Shop assistants - help run our fundraising outlet on Sandown High St
  • Committee Members - help plan and execute our events
  • Carnival day marshalls and collectors - help our events run safely and shake buckets!

For more information drop us an email to friends@sandowncarnival.com - THANK YOU!

Here's just some of the tasks our committee members undertake. Could you help with any of these?

  • Parades - road closure applications, arranging appropriate insurances, provision of first aid facilities, parking suspensions, signage, street trader licencing, health & safety risk assessment and mitigation, barriers, safety fencing ...
  • Queens Co-ordinators - event planning, liaison, arranging transport, dressmaking and alterations, float music, welfare and safeguarding, managing DBS checks ...
  • Media & Publicity - advertising campaigns, social media interaction, press releases, website management, photography/videography, liaison with media outlets, production of posters, carnival programme and other advertising materials ...
