The whole of the Isle of Wight is carnival crazy! With well over 20 different public events each summer and several more throughout the year, thousands of locals and groups from further afield gather to entertain tens of thousands of residents and visitors alike.
With 4 significant public events of our own, each year we aim to make our events bigger, brighter and better than those that have gone before!
To this end our main summer carnivals have now developed into "all-day" affairs with pre-carnival entertainments and events taking place around the town well into the evenings when our fantastic processions bring the events to a memorable conclusion.
All Sandown Carnival events are FREE to attend, staffed by a dedicated team of volunteers who endlessly fund raise to ensure that future events can continue to take place.
The online version of our 2015 programme is available to download by clicking on the picture (left). This is a 14MB PDF file, so may take a little time to download on a slower connection.
The printed version will be available to pick up from Sandown Carnival Outlet in early July. You'll also find copies in other shops around the town.

Post-production corrections: 1) P5 states November 7th event is Hallowe'en themed - it's not, but costumes are welcome anyway!; 2) P9+P11 state the start date for the competitions is Saturday 5th July 2014 - this is incorrect - the start date is Friday 17th July 2015; 3) P26 states that "Switch" are the pre-carnival entertainers - this is pending confirmation and an alternative act may be substituted.
The 2015 Carnival Development Fund has now CLOSED for applications, and we are delighted to confirm awards to the following 7 groups: The Wight Strollers, Broadlea Primary School, Friends and Family, Sandown Juniors, The Toybox, The Moody Grandchildren and Viva Carnival Club.<
We look forward to seeing your creations!
Sandown's Carnival Queens selection took place on Friday 17th April at Browns Golf Course. After much deliberation the judges chose Oonagh O'Neil, Thea Callaghan, Zinnia Tongue, Ashleigh Hunt-Davis and Kiera Bamford to represent Sandown during this year's events.
Zinnia and Ashleigh then went on to win the All-Island Queen of Queens competition in May! Well done you two!!
